The Law Department hosted lawyer and sports arbitrator, Said Alamri, to speak to the Sports Law class about the nature, implications and implementation of the sports law. Alamri explained to the class such issues as sports disputes, arbitration and the study of sports law. He spoke also about the Saudi Sports Arbitration Center (SSAC) in terms of formation, organization structure, committees and role in arbitration, pointing out the procedures of filing claims and appeals at the SSAC.
Alamri spoke also about the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in Switzerland, highlighting its formation, objectives, and committees and the cases and issues it deals with.
The presentation was followed by a Q&A session, where the students raised numerous questions reflecting their interest in this domain and their realization of the increasing importance and need for sports lawyers and arbitrators in Saudi Arabia where the sports sector is taking an increasingly important role in the Saudi society and economy.
